Art Nouveau is the Art Movement, which means 'new art' in French and was popular from the late 1880s to 1910s. It is a decadence style of Fin-de-siecle, influenced by the retro-trending tendency that characterized the 19th century, although it pursued futuristic aesthetics as it did in its name.
First, movement began in England and spread throughout Europe. In Italy, it was called Stile Liberty, which originated in Liberty's department store in London. Jugendstil in Germany, Sezessionstil in Austria, and Modernista in Spain.
Art Nouveau's representative textile pattern designer is Alphose Mucha, who was born in Czechoslovakia and acquired French nationality. The textile patterns of Alphose Mucha, which showed a remarkable performance in Art Nouveau, are also called Mucha Style.
