Printed Fabric Historic Period Theme: Neoclassical
Since the Renaissance, European artists have received much inspiration from the art of ancient Greece and Rome. Neoclassicism usually means imitating classicism and began in the mid-18th century. Since Rococo movement in textile print design, textile designers have preferred simpler, easier designs while followed the original classic touch in shape.
Printed silk fabric design in neoclassical style has become more prevalent since around 1748 when the ruins of Pompeii, which was buried in ash in AD 79, were discovered.
